It's live! The Explore22 Peru country finale! (AKA Explore22 Peru Part 5)

Join us as we spend our final weeks camping and learning what it's like living in Peru's sacred valley. This episode is quite action packed and begins with a mysterious, unknown and somewhat scary event which takes place at night in our tent while camping in the rain. We then transition and  showcase the genuine lifestyle of a traditional sacred valley family.

We also found it necessary to give you, our viewers a fair content warning before the episode plays due to the fact that there is some rather graphic footage of a guinea pig being killed and used for food. We don't spare many details... So brace yourself.
This episode surely invites you, the viewer into the real world of Peru's countryside.

Enjoy the "season" finale and catch us next time as we hop a flight to Costa Rica!

Budget Travel and one of their writer's, Ryan Murphy, have listed Explore22 as one of the "Top 5 Travel Shows You've Never Seen - But Should!"

It's a great article and features some really good "undiscovered" travel shows. Definitely worth a read (and watch)!

The portion of the article which pertains to us says:

"For the Do–Gooder: We hear lots of stories about how inconsiderate travelers contribute to despoiling the world. That’s why Explore22 is so refreshing: it’s a youth–oriented series that focuses on how travelers can discover and help struggling communities around the globe. Like the cast, the series is still young, but viewers have already been taken to Haiti for earthquake relief and to Peru, where the team joined a construction project to erect a new school.

Where to watch it: Put down the TV remote:Explore22 is web–only, and the first few episodes are available for free viewing on the show’s website."

Budget Travel, thanks for the great write up! It's always refreshing seeing others gaining interest in our show!

We have successfully managed to release Explore22 Peru, Part 3 on time!

This episode is quite exciting as it includes the following fun topics and locations: (Spoiler alert, you may want to watch it first...)

1. Visiting the town of Taray.
-This town was plagued by a flood which killed many people. The government of Peru provided no support for it's people during the crisis. Fortunately, Non Government Organizations like The Global Volunteer Network and Maximo Nivel helped out in building new emergency homes for families.

2. Guinea pig farms.
We visit an authentic Guinea pig "farm" and get to see how they live before being used as food.

3. Cusco's San Pedro Market.
Learn what grocery stores look in in Cusco Peru. (Raw meat, Nice veggies and beautiful garments)

4. Take the train to Aguas Calientes.
Lots of travel is required to get to Machu Picchu and along the way you experience many interesting places. Our personal favorite is the beautiful culture filled town right at it's base which features delicious food, fine arts and Peruvian flute music!

5. Arguments.
Our explorers get in their first argument. Jordan and Fiene end up blaming Kevin for possibly losing their irreplaceable tickets to Machu Picchu.

This is Explore22 Peru.

It's official:

The Huffington Post and it's fans have ranked Machu Picchu the #1 place to visit before one dies.

Fortunately for those who may not have it on their direct travel agenda, Explore22 has you covered!

Join us on our Machu Picchu journey within Explore22 Peru, Part 4 which launches on January 26th 2012. However, you can join us even sooner as we venture to the foothills/base of the enchanted land in  Aguascalientes. That episode (Explore22, Part3) airs on 12/26/2011, 7pm PST! Check back soon for updates!

"Thousands of travel fans voted on our "1,000 Places To See Before You Die" bracket and we've reached the end of our challenge. Withhundreds of comments and thousands of votes, you unanimously picked the ultimate destination you'd want to visit before you die..."

Explore22 Peru, Part 2 is now live!

Join us as the Explore22 team helps construct a nursery school in Groupo Tica Tica and visits a children's nutritional center in the countryside of Cusco! One thing that some may find interesting about Cusco, aside from the lush countryside, beautiful culture and our volunteer efforts may be the surplus of free alcohol. Never have we  been in a city who's bars offer free drinks for an entire group of people. Unfortunately, too much free alcohol (primarily Sambuca) means a hangover and that's exactly what takes place in Part 2... so be sure to watch the entire thing!

Another exciting bit of information about Peru Part 2 is that Eligh, a very popular and intelligent underground hiphop artist has granted the show permission to use his music within. For our viewers who enjoy true hiphop, be sure to check out his album "Grey Crow" which contains the songs featured in our episode. Eligh also recently announced a new album entitled "Therapy At 3". If you enjoy the music, please purchase the album and support good music that also supports Explore22.

I'm writing tonight to inform our viewers that Explore22 Peru (Part 2) is slightly delayed.

I have been caught up working on two large commercial/film projects and will be stuck on deadlines until 11/7/2011. As soon as my spare time increases, I will release the episode!

Thanks for stopping by, check in frequently for more updates.

My independent travel series Explore22 is set to hit the internet soon with our Peru episodes. However, before launching our latest ep, I have finally had the time to publish the first written chapter.  (I Hope to write a chapter for each place we visit on our journey) This first chapter is entitled "Bonswa" and reflects about my/our time while in Haiti.

If you enjoy a good insightful read, feel free to take a peak HERE. Or by click any of the images below.

Snippet:

"Haiti is a country which has been crushed with disaster, death, poverty and is what could now be considered a homeless nation. Apart from that, I call Haiti “magic” in that with all it has endured and lost, Haiti also has something which is a rarely found in even the most wealthy and flourishing nations. Haiti has love, understanding and a bond of family encompassed with fellowship that will not accept defeat. These qualities radiate from every man, women and child, in every marketplace, street and tent village."

Stay tuned for Explore22 Peru, coming soon.
