South America Travel Talks About Explore22

SouthAmerica.Travel

January 3, 2012... Explore22 is a start-up non-profit that features videos about two twenty-something guys traveling to Peru, Haiti, and other developing countries, and getting their hands dirty helping others with various volunteer projects and learning about the local communities. The creator of Explore22, Jordan Freda, recently traveled to Cusco, Peru, where he and his buddy Kevin traipsed around the Sacred Valley and lent a helping hand to locals near Cusco. Their short videos give a well-narrated, fresh look at what it's like to travel to Cusco and to volunteer in the communities where aid is always appreciated.

Explore22 Makes Budgettravel.com Top 5 Travel Shows List

Budget Travel

January 3, 2012... Explore22 is featured on Budget Travel's write up which showcases "5 Travel Shows You've Never Seen- But Should!" "Anthony Bourdain is hardly a newcomer to the travel scene—his No Reservations food travelogue has been a television mainstay for over half a decade—so it’s no surprise to see his latest jaunt, The Layover, getting lots of media coverage. Bourdain’s program will see him seeking out new people, cultures and (of course) foods within the small window of time afforded him by airport layovers in Asia, Europe and the United States... " "For the Do–Gooder: We hear lots of stories about how inconsiderate travelers contribute to despoiling the world. That’s why Explore22 is so refreshing: it’s a youth–oriented series that focuses on how travelers can discover and help struggling communities around the globe. Like the cast, the series is still young, but viewers have already been taken to Haiti for earthquake relief and to Peru, where the team joined a construction project to erect a new school. Where to watch it: Put down the TV remote: Explore22 is web–only, and the first few episodes are available for free viewing on the show’s website."

Jordan Freda was kind enough to sit down and answer a few production questions for FilmmakerIQ: IQ: Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get started? What were you doing before taking on Explore 22?

Explore22 Haiti in the Huffington Post

Huffington Post

August 3, 2010... Explore22 Haiti was picked up via Huffington Post's "Impact" section! "Jordan Freda embarks on a journey to create an educational travel show, and do some good in the process. The scene opens with a young man at a desk announcing to the audience that he has just found out he is going to Haiti in five days. With hair worthy of securing him a spot as the fourth Jonas brother, it may seem at first like your about to watch some dude's glorified vacation clips on YouTube. But what follows is his documentary-style episode equally balancing the energy of youth and the very grown up reality of Haiti's devastation"

With hair worthy of securing him a spot as the fourth Jonas brother, it may seem at first like your about to watch some dude’s glorified vacation clips on YouTube. But what follows is his documentary-style episode equally balancing the energy of youth and the very grown up reality of Haiti’s devastation. Jordan Freda, a 22-year-old artist and originator of the Explore22 series, traveled to Haiti on his own dime to volunteer with the Global Volunteer Network (GVN). He brought a crew along with him, and together, they created the pilot episode of what he hopes to turn into a full-fledged educational travel series for high school and college kids with volunteering at its heart.
